I took this picture this afternoon.

It was one hell of a hailstorm.

LT12 On Test

I was on Tottenham Court Road today and saw New Bus for London number LT12.

I’m surprised that the registration numbers aren’t in the same sequence as the first nine.

I talked to a lady waiting for a 24 and she was enthusiastic about the arrival of new buses on a route she often used.

Completing Kings Cross

I took these pictures this morning, as they were completing Kings Cross station.

The new Great Northern Hotel looks particularly impressive.

Should Crossrail Go To Reading?

According to this article on the BBC, a Reading councillor is wanting Crossrail to terminate at Reading rather than Maidenhead.

It has always struck me, that Reading as a bigger town might be a better terminus. If Crossrail terminated there, it would also be easier to get to Heathrow from the West Country and Wales, although plans are in place to allow direct trains from the west into Heathrow.

But then I haven’t got access to the passenger numbers and costs.

I suppose you could also make arguments for the terminus of Crossrail to be on a large Park and Ride on the M4.

But then you could probably make arguments for the two eastern terminals to be stations other than Abbey Wood and Shenfield.

Dishwasher-Safe Coasters

I was at the Clerkenwell Design Week today, when I saw some glass coasters that gave me an idea.  Why can’t we have dishwasher-safe coasters?  I have a messy office because, I tend to drink masses of tea all day. My late wife, always complained about the state, with tea stains everywhere.

The picture shows the one, I’m using at the moment.  Pristine it isn’t!

So I went to John Lewis, arguing, if anybody would have them, they would.  I found these by ashortwalk, which although, the main material will stand up to a dishwasher, the cork pads won’t.

I should say that the research I did at CDW, indicated that many would like dishwasher-safe coasters. The office market could be bigger than domestic.

A real Crime-Solving Lawyer

This story, which is all over the media, shows how to solve the theft of an iPad.

The West Midlands police seemed to be as useful as a chocolate tea-pot.

Spam From H & M With An Italian Unsubscribe

H & M just crossed themselves of my list of shops to use! Not that I actually have done!

I just got spam from them and when I unsubscribed it was all in Italian.

Hopefully, it’s the last I’ll hear from them!

The BBC Plugs A Dinosaur

The BBC is doing an outside broadcast from the newly-rebuilt Whiteley Village shopping centre near Fareham.

It may be what market research says what is needed in the area and what the major chains of shops, I don’t use, want, but it is rather a dinosaur, in that after my visits to One New Change and Trinity in Leeds, I believe that something more in tune with the modern world is emerging. The trouble with these two new in-city shopping centres, is they are difficult places to park the 4×4!

But then your life improves substantially, when you ditch your vehicle!

A Week Of Eating Very Well

A lot of people think that the diet of a coeliac is rather difficult.  If I look back at last week nothing could be further from the truth.

On Sunday, I cooked a late lunch or dinner of pork with asparagus and shiitake mushrooms. It was the first time, I’d cooked the Japanese mushrooms and they made a change.

Monday, I ate out in Pizza Express, as I wanted a quick meal, to get back in time for the football. The fact that this numerous chain now does gluten free food is going to transform my eating as I travel around the UK.

Tuesday, I had dinner with my son at Carluccio’s in Market Place.

Wednesday, I cooked a fish supper for a friend.

Thursday, I ate with the fried in Cote in Islington, before going to the theatre.

Friday, I was in Geneva and ate at La Tavola.

Saturday, I had a very good meal of lamb cutlets in the restaurant attached to my hotel.

And that was just the evening meals!
