Vinnie Jones On Lotteries
In today’s Sunday Times, Vinnie Jones is asked about life and money.
One question was “What would you do if you won the lottery jackpot?”
He replied. “I’ve won the lottery of life, which is bigger than any financial lottery.”
I’ll go along with that!
I always feel, I’ve had some very good luck and some extremely crap luck too!
I dont do the lottery, although I have been tempted and resisted a few times when there a huge rollover. Because with 30million+ I would set up a charitable trust and use the interest to pay for things most trusts don’t pay for. Carefully set up of course, and done in such a way that I knew we weren’t being taken for a ride. Things like a new washing machine for a mum with several kids, a car repair for a much needed vehicle, small things that make a big difference to someone’s life. But it would be anonymous, I wouldn’t tell anyone it was me the money came from. Our washing machine broke irreparably last Sunday, and this wasn’t an issue, we went to John Lewis and bought a rather nice Bosch one, and it arrived yesterday. We could afford a decent machine, and we have enough clothes to go a week without washing any. But once when the children were small our washing machine broke down the very day my husband was made redundant, and we had little money. We used some of his redundancy money to buy the cheapest machine we could find, and it was crap, only lasted a couple of years. The Bosch one which broke down last week we had had for 12 years. I would love to help people get something decent so they aren’t always forking out, or having to to turn to companies like Bright House.
But this is a pipe dream since I don’t buy lottery tickets.
