Lionel Stapley
It is with great sadness, that I must report the death of Lionel Stapley, who was a colleague at Metier Management Systems and a friend since we first met in the 1970s.

About This Blog
What this blog will eventually be about I do not know.
But it will be about how I’m coping with the loss of my wife and son to cancer in recent years and how I manage with being a coeliac and recovering from a stroke. It will be about travel, sport, engineering, food, art, computers, large projects and London, that are some of the passions that fill my life.
And hopefully, it will get rid of the lonely times, from which I still suffer.
Why Anonymous? That’s how you feel at times.

I’m truly sorry to hear this news. Lionel provided me with the foundation for my career in software. He hired me in London, moved me to Norway, then Sweden. Then the Netherlands and, eventually, to the US. An amazing experience.
Thank you Lionel for your support and lots of fond memories. You still owe me a beer though!

I worked a number of years for Lionel in the Netherlands and the middle east.
I have never known a more patient, decent and wise person.
I know that he will be missed by many.

I am so sorry – what a loss. He lives in the work he did. I am so sorry Anonymous Widower, I can’t imagine your loss. Lionel inspired me and gave me confidence. Thank you for notifying me.

I’ll send you more details, if you have left your e-mail on the system. It was so sad. I brought Lionel to Metier and he was employee number 1.
