An Unnecessary Diesel-Hauled Train
I took these picture at Blackhorse Road station this morning.
This train from Moss End to Dagenham Dock is pathed to be electric-hauled. So why was it hauled by a noisy and polluting Class 66 locomotive?

What this blog will eventually be about I do not know.
But it will be about how I’m coping with the loss of my wife and son to cancer in recent years and how I manage with being a coeliac and recovering from a stroke. It will be about travel, sport, engineering, food, art, computers, large projects and London, that are some of the passions that fill my life.
And hopefully, it will get rid of the lonely times, from which I still suffer.
Why Anonymous? That’s how you feel at times.
This happens frequently for Felixstowe to Trafford Park. When routed through NLL (most are) it is electric all the way, yet only about one train in three such trains is electric hauled.

They can’t use electric haulage on the Felixstowe branch. I think that when Rail Operations Group get their tri-mode Class 93 locomotives, these might be able to do Felixstowe and Trafford Park without a change of locomotive at Ipswich. There is a photograph on this blog of a double-headed heavy freight with a Class 66 and a Class 90 up front going South through Shenfield. Was this going to Trafford Park? I only ever saw it once!

In this instance possibly no electric loco was available.
