Given talk of spacing lasting for many months then Rail has an advantage over air to provide more space for passengers by altering the layout of seating compared to the more restricted space a plane has .
I notice anti HS2 brigade are still trying to stop HS2 when this virus has if anything made HS2 even more needed to provide more space on railway!
Anyway I can’t see tourist industry returning to anything like it was until at least 2021 as people will be wary of traveling to other countries especially those affected by the virus which includes the U.K. !

By good fortune there is also a fleet of HST trains that were recently withdrawn but just like in Scotland some could be reintroduced to provide greater capacity than short formed DMUs with seats spread out by reducing the number of rows .
A system of separation of alighting and boarding might also help to maintain spacing.
