Avanti Train Wedding: The Couple Who Said ‘I do’ On A 125 mph Train To Birmingham
The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on the BBC.
I’ll put one quote from the article here.
The couple say they were worried about missing the train and having to catch a “marriage replacement service”
Obviously, they didn’t!
The article doesn’t say, if anybody has got married on a train before.
- I suspect that some heritage railways can and have arranged it.
- It appears that you can get married on the Bluebell Railway. But is that in a station or on a train.
- This web site offers Wedding Train Chartering
But only three train companies have the trains and routes to offer you a wedding at 125 mph.
Conclusion
This could start a trend!
Are you sure only three companies? I reckon Avanti, GWR, LNER, EMT, South Eastern, Grand Central, Hull Trains but not sure about Cross Country or Eurostar for that matter.

I was just reading a genealogy website I subscribe to, and it reminded me of this post about marrying on a train.
Professor Rebecca Probert, author of the ground-breaking book Marriage Law for Genealogists and Professor of Law at the University of Exeter Law School was in no doubt about the answer:
“No, this was not a legal ceremony – it is not (yet) possible to get married on a train.”
If you read the link you refer to you’ll see that it doesn’t suggest that people can get married on a train in England or Wales.

I send the post to a friend who is a registrar. She didn’t raise any objections.

Checking the House of Commons Library for where you can get married, I found the following link:https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn02842/It clearly refers to “buildings” or “premisesâ.Maybe your friend overlooked your communication.Having followed the press and particularly the railway industry
