Barack Obama and Gordon Brown
I was searching for something else and found this little snippet in Simon Heffer‘s piece in the Telegraph for September 29th.
I bet our diplomats were “frantic” as they tried, and almost failed, to ensure that the most important person on earth, President Obama, had talks in the margins of the G20 with the man who thinks he is the most important person on earth, Gordon Brown. The reality is this. Mr Brown, as far as the Americans are concerned, is finished. He is of no use to them, so they see no reason to waste time on him. I can see their point: but every day, all of us find we have to be civil to people who are tiresome to us, and we manage to cope with that.
St Barack, whose own world is imploding as he gets more and more out of his depth, should reflect that he, one day, may be in Mr Brown’s position. And, by the way, he should learn some manners.
An interesting view from someone, who is not known to be playing in Stanley Matthew’s position – i.e. On the right!

Obama’s Peace Prize
Now, I think he’s a good bloke and all that.
But!
What has he done so far?
He’s just changed policy on a lot of things, but nothing has actually happened.
The Peace Prize should have been given, when he had achieved tangible and lasting results.

The New Surgeon General
Barack Obama has appointed a new Surgeon General.
Has he made a mistake in appointing someone, who if they may not be clinically obese, are definitely overweight? In my view, yes!
The article in the Telegraph has this paragraph.
Sarah Reed, another family doctor, who said she kept her own BMI at 19, said: “I am disappointed that Dr Regina Benjamin is obese. Obesity is the number one problem in my own practice and I make it a very high priority to lead by example. Although her credentials speak for themselves, her weight cannot be overlooked. Shame on her!”
I’m the same weight I was when I left University in 1968. That helps me to stay pretty fit, even if I’m struggling at the moment with my foot injury.

A Grim Milestone
Today the 1,000 person was executed in the United States by lethal injection.
I thought that Obama would put an end to this barbarous practice. Especially, as many more of those executed are coloured. I still won’t go to the US until they abolish capital punishment. Unless of course, someone is giving me a large cheque.
But then there was a report on the BBC today, that says he’s not as liberal as he made out to be elected.

About This Blog
What this blog will eventually be about I do not know.
But it will be about how I’m coping with the loss of my wife and son to cancer in recent years and how I manage with being a coeliac and recovering from a stroke. It will be about travel, sport, engineering, food, art, computers, large projects and London, that are some of the passions that fill my life.
And hopefully, it will get rid of the lonely times, from which I still suffer.
Why Anonymous? That’s how you feel at times.
