Off to Norwich This Morning

I’ve just ordered the taxi to take me to the station to get my train to Cambridge.  The weather doesn’t seem too bad, but it’s a bit cold. To say the least. The train was also on time at Ipswich and is just approaching Needham Market.

Here’s hoping it all goes well!

I’ve Got a Ticket for Ipswich at Norwich

I go to quite a few Ipswich Town away matches, but I’ve never seen them at Norwich. This year though, I will be there, as they have what is known as an Alternative Priority method, which allocates a ticket to supporters, who have been to a given number of away matches.

What a sensible use of their ticket computer system. I suspect that they are not alone in doing this!

A Dastardly Plot

I am a coeliac as well as being an Ipswich Town supporter.  A couple of years ago, Delia was on the radio promoting one of her books and I got to ask her about gluten-free food.  She admitted she didn’t know anything about it.

So why at the next away Derby match at Carrow Road don’t we give Delia a test?  Let’s get four coeliacs and book a table for lunch before the match.  I should say that I’ve asked Ipswich hospitality and they can do gluten-free as can Newmarket Racecourse and the two Premier League Clubs I’ve contacted.

There is one point has to be said.  I also talked to Gordon Ramsey about gluten-free food in a restaurant.  He said that if you book at least 24 hours before and say you want a gluten-free meal, the restaurant has no excuse for not giving you what you need.  I have found that his advice usually works, except in a couple of cases where they have said they can’t, so I’ve just gone elsewhere.

Let’s hope she gets the message.

I always wonder if she got those “Wish You Were Here” postcards Town fans sent on the European  adventures a few years ago.

Aussies Get a Pasting from the Germans

It certainly looks that way with just a few minutes to go, but there is nothing that cheers a real Englishman more than Aussies losing. Except possibly a bunch of chippy Scotsmen doing the same!

I know we weren’t that good, but remember where Robert Green learned to keep goal – Norwich City! It was also the altitude, as it’s rather low in Norfolk.

BBC Norwich Get It Wrong

On the evening news the BBC in Norwich said that Ipswich had won 2-0, whereas in fact they had won 3-1!

But then they are just jealous that Ipswich are a league above.

They didn’t give any video clips either.

Delia Goes up in My Estimation

As an Ipswich supporter, I’m not a fan of Delia Smith, because of her Norwich connections.

But she did go up in my estimation on Thursday, when she was promoting her new book and talking about football in League One on Radio 5 Live.  She made the statement that she’d rather go to Hartlepool than Chelsea to support Norwich.  She also said she had nothing against the fans of Chelsea, but that she had to wait for an hour before she could leave because of the security surrounding Abramovich and his entourage.

If I was the Chairman of a football club and they had treated me like that, then I wouldn’t go.

First Real Football of the Season

Off to real tennis at Cambridge and then to Coventry to see Ipswich play.  The Ricoh stadium at Coventry is one of the new grounds and as they go it’s not too bad.  Parking is good if I remember it.

At least we’re only three points off the top of the table as of this morning.

I suppose we only have to lose by less than six goals to do better than Norwich!

Norwich 1 – Colchester 7

As an Ipswich Town supporter, I don’t wish Norwich City too much good fortune.  Who in Suffolk does?

But for Norwich to go lose by seven goals to one on the first day of the season shows there must be some problems at the club.  Unless of course they had seen that Ipswich were playing tomorrow and thought they were as well. So half their players didn’t turn up!

I just looked on the Internet and they beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a warm up match. That wasn’t too bad or are Palace even worse!

Delia Smith seems to have created a wonderfully chaotic new pudding!
