One Of The Most Depressing Days Of The Year
I hate June the twentieth, as it was my late son’s birthday. He would have been forty-four today, if he hadn’t died of pancreatic cancer four years ago. I never hate my late wife’s birthday in the same way, but that could be eased as another son virtually shares it.
So why did England’s kamikaze defending have to ensure their exit from the World Cup last night?
The media will be full of this depression today.
To make matters worse, BBC Breakfast is talking to a lady, who lost her husband and daughter in a speed-boat accident.
I’ll have to find something stimulating to do.
If my son were still here, we’d at least be arguing the whys and wherefores!
My only comfort is life could be worse. I did try to organise a luxury trip to the World Cup some months ago, but failed.
I would feel a lot worse, if I was waking up in Brazil.

I hope found something nice to do – I really admire the way you live your life to the full despite what has happened over past few years, you never mope or grumble of claim life is unfair. Have you ever thought of writing a book to inspire others in similar situation?

I suggest you take up bridge … it really is wonderful. It is great fun, get you meeting people, opens up holidays cruises etc and it is good for you! It has helped me after ME and cancer. It is good for your health and it is much more fun than watching your national football team getting thrashed!

I used to play, but my wife wasn’t a card player. A friend has suggested that I learn to play properly, but it is not my scene.
In some ways, I’ve always been a loner and as my wife was the same, we had lots of acquaintances, but few close friends. I also think that some of my friends, see me as a warning about what might happen to them. Many of my true friends now have been widowed.
I enjoyed myself yesterday and a big post will be going up soon.
