Raising the Anonymity a Bit
I was going to keep this blog completely anonymous, but a lot of my friends have seen it and if you follow me on something like Facebook or Twitter, you’ll have sussed the connection. After all the Twitter account is on the page anyway.
At the moment, I’ve more than one blog going and the other concerns my new Management Software System called MX73. So that I can post in fewer places, I’ll put odd comments about that here.

Hmm! I can’t understand a word of it!
By worst, I mean least intelligent! If anybody falls for this one, they deserve to be conned.
Trinny Relaunches Herself
Trinny Woodall relaunches herself more than the space shuttle.
I first came across Trinny and her business partner, Susannah Constantine, at a presentation given by First Tuesday at the height of the Dot Com boom. They were launching a website for women and like many others launched at the time, I think it failed. Interestingly, I liked the idea and in common with others at the time, did they launch before the punters were ready for it?
Few sites have survived from those heady days, and most of the ones that have, have either have backers with deep pockets or no backers at all. It probably says that if you want a successful business, make sure you have control of the finances.
Perhaps, her latest relaunch is the most spectacular, as she has turned the clock back with her body.
There is a lot of truth in the old motto.
If at first you don’t succeed, then try, try, try again.
Or perhaps in Trinny’s case.
If you’ve succeeded once, you can always do it again.
I wish her the best of luck.
Especially, as at the age of nearly 62, I’m trying to get really fit. But perhaps more importantly, I’m creating a whole new suite of software, which is the successor to all of the stuff I wrote in the 1970s.
It’s hard, but it’s fun!
VIP on Norfolk Line
I’m actually posting this whilst travelling in VIP class on Norfolk Line between Dover and Dunkirk. For my extra £10 I get free coffee, tea, snacks and on this trip, a free glass of wine and wi-fi.
But the biggest benefit is you get to get off the boat first.
I think the one-way trip cost me £48, but VIP is per person, so if there are four of you it could almost double the price of the trip.
I’m actually watching Crincinfo for the Ashes and the BBC for the European Grand Prix.
The connection is slow, but the scores and placings get through.

This is an e-mail of which I have received several copies.

Note the spelling mistakes and also the fact that mine came with this attached from those mice people at McAffe.

So the spammers are using the death of a rather tragic figure to send out their evil wares.
Wimbledon Roof Designer
The title of this post is simple and it is something that you would type into Google, if you wanted to find out who designed the Wimbledon roof.
My page called Wimbledon’s Roof comes up seventh in the list.
This is amazing considering that the page in this blog has only been viewed thirteen times, since it was posted. I would have thought, I would be way down with a hit rate like that!
Apollo 13
Apollo 13 was the mission where the oxygen tank blew and they had to use the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) to bring the astronauts home. It all came back to me after the program on BBC2 tonight.
What is not generally known is that the calculations were performed not on a digital computer, but on a PACE 231R analog computer, which was one of the greatest machines ever built. NASA had two slaved together as the analog half of a hybrid simulator of the Apollo mission. When Apollo 13 blew, they reprogrammed it to work out the trajectory that brought everyone home safely.
I used to work on a PACE 231R and know how easy it would have been with that machine to sort out all of the differential equations compared to the sort of digital machines we have today.
Without the analog machines, it may have been that Apollo 13 would have been more unlucky.
Searching for this Blog
As I said earlier, I’m now getting hits from Google.
I’ve just found that if I type venison redcurrant celeriac rosti into the search engine, the page I entered is second. Now I know it is a rather specific search, but the recipe is printed on Waitrose venison, so I would have thought it would be on their web site. It’s not!
The page on President Ahmadinejad’s Personal Hygiene is also being looked for and scores high too.
condron.us
This site sent me a reader and it says if you mention them, they’ll send you more traffic.
Let’s see if it happens, if I mention condron.us again.
The Advantages of Blogging
I’ve just had two hits to this blog from search engines.
It just shows how fast blogs get entwined in Google, Live and all the others.
So I would always advise someone starting a business to go the blogging rather than web site route. Especially, if you use something like WordPress, which allows you to have a small web site as well.
