One of My Zopa Bad Debts Has Gone Missing
Ever since the 3rd of March, I have had 13 bad debts, that have cost me the sum of £413.77. As I have the sum of nearly £ 38,000 invested with well over 2,000 borrowers, that doesn’t seem to be too bad to me.
A strange thing has just happened in that the bad debt count has dropped to 12 with a total of £405.34. I suppose the explanation is simple in that some money has been recovered from a debtor.
I’ll check in the morning to see it is not a figment of my imagination. It’s the morning now and it is still missing, so someone must have paid it.
Donna Air Head
Apparently according to this case n Isleworth Crown Court, reported in the Telegraph, it’s alright to commit an offence if you’re stupid. Donna Air’s lawyer said of her “not a great deal in her head but hot air.” And the jury let her off.
I hope that the CPS appeals.
Japan Joins the Evil Empire
Yesterday, Japan hanged three men.
The death penalty is barbaric, but in Japan, they just take you in the morning and hang you, after you might have been in jail for twenty or thirty years. Your relatives aren’ even told.
That though is truly barbaric. Even when we had the death penalty, it was carried out as humanely as possible, according to the standards of the time.
So Japan now joins the Evil Empire of Iran, China and the United States.
Ken Livingstone Won’t Like It
The second leader in The Times today, asks about Ken Livingstone’s attitude to London’s Jews.
It also questions his puzzling comments about homosexuality, claiming that the Tory party is riddled with it.
It finishes with this paragraph.
This turns what would otherwise be a nasty squabble into an issue of importance to all London citizens and, indeed, beyond. A divisive politics that seeks to exploit tensions between religious groups for electoral gain would be a disaster, not just for the city but for the country. And it is to be hoped that Mr Livingstone will find it a disaster for him as well. Muslims value a united London, too.
Until now, I hadn’t really been too bothered about who was Mayor of London. Now, I’m certainly on an ABK ticket.
A Titantic Waste of Money
There seems to be so much fuss about a ship, the Titanic, which had the most disastrous maiden voyage in history.
We’ve now got the original film being rereleased in 3D, which I will not be seeing.
And how much of my tax money went to produce the morbid exhibition in Belfast.
Remember that Titanic was one of three sister ships in the Olympic Class. Only one lived long enough to be scrapped, but the third, the Britannic hit a mine and sunk in World War 1.
All this is well-documented in the Liverpool Maritime Museum. Currently, they are holding an exhibition called Titanic and Liverpool: the untold story.
I know where I would prefer to spend an afternoon.
The Toddler On The Bus
I went into Islington on the bus yesterday to get my supper and the bus was rather empty on the lower deck, except for a guy sitting in front of me, who had a little girl about two, sitting in a buggy in front of him.
He was eating some sort of odious processed meat pie and feeding small scraps of it to the child. I thought of telling him off, but then I restrained myself, as I didn’t want a fist in my face.
No wonder children are getting unhealthier and more obese.
By the time I got off the bus, I’d just about had enpough of the smell of that pie. So let’s tax them to the hilt for the sake of all our health!
Paying Credit Cards
I have two credit cards; one with my bank and one with John Lewis. Today I paid the bills and transferred some money to each from my on-line account.
I used the bank’s faster payments system for the John Lewis account and it disappeared from my account immediately, but on past form it’ll take a few days to get to my account there.
The internal transfer hasn’t left my account yet and it hasn’t been credited to the other account, which I suppose is fair.
As I’m in all day. I’ll be updating this post during the day.
