Should Starbucks Pay More Tax?
As a High Street company I would prefer that they set up a system like Waitrose has done with Community Matters, where local charities are chosen by customers to benefit from a levy on takings.
After all, Governments have a record of wasting our taxes on things that a proportion of us don’t want. We all have our pet hates and mine is probably the money government wastes on defence and computer projects.
One of our local starbucks does seem to be doing something similar, various charities are recieving money. Not sure how it operates. McD invest in accommodation for families with a child in hospital, and the new Manchester Children’s Hospital has excellent facilities for a large number of families, all funded by them.

All good! Have you seen that Waitrose are cutting advertising on TV this Christmas and giving the saving to various charities

I hadnt seen that. but it is good news. I pass one Waitrose several times a week, and they are building nice big one in Hale Barns right next to a place I go to weekly, and can easily get to two other days a week.We are finding we are using Waitrose and JL more and more

I certainly am using them more. But I’ve got two within a quick bus ride and of course there are M&S Simply Food everywhere in London.
