Ill Designed For Humans

Ill Designed for Humans

That’s how I read this advert on the side of a bus.

I tried one of these S III phones, as Samsung had a booth at the Angel and I found them unusable, as I only ever use a phone with my right hand, holding it in my palm and dialling with a thumb nail.

So here’s one human, for whom the phone was ill-designed. Give me my Nokia 6310i anytime.

I don’t think too, that I’m the only person, who uses a phone one-handed.

Hastings Police Fail To Get Rid Of Dodgy Mobile Phones

I found this story in The Times today, but they got it from this page in the Hastings Observer.

Apparently, the police left marked mobile phones in bars and clubs, to attempt to find those nicking them in Hastings and St. Leonards.  Unfortunately, every one was handed straight in to staff.

There are two possible explanations.

Perhaps people in the two towns are more honest than the police think.

Or the criminals in the area are brighter than they’re supposed to be and know a marked mobile phone, when they see one.

Talking up Defiencies

They’ve just had a very one-sided phone-in on BBC Radio 5, with virtually an hour of the dismal Jimmies and Jennies complaining about all the inadequacies.

We’ve just had a volunteer complaining, that they are not being given car parking on the Olympic Park. It sounds to me, that they should have been turned down as a volunteer.

Let’s face it, if you don’t like the conditions, don’t volunteer.

We should be celebrating what we got right.

My field is project management and we should be celebrating the fact that all of the venues and transport links have been constructed on time and generally on budget.

Remember the Olympic Park is built in a marsh and with all the bad weather we’ve been having lately, that has not only caused construction problems, but made the design of the park difficult. Luckily, the main site of the Games is by the River Lea and Joseph Bazalette‘s massive Northern Outfall Sewer, so hopefully we’ll cope, with water and sewage.

I’ve watched the plans unfold and East London has improved beyond all expectations.

When we won the bid the London Overground from New Cross to Dalston and from Stratford to Richmond only partly existed as a set of travelling urinals.  now it is a modern railway with new trains, signalling and completely renewed track.  The East London Line deserves five stars in its own right, as it was built through Brunel’s Thames Tunnel of 1840 and under the Kingsland Road, without breaking anything.

As the icing, London has now got its magnificent cable-car, which will be the fun legacy of the games.

And now the phone-in is talking about the failure of the O2 mobile phone network.  My Nokia 6310i works well on O2 at the moment.

Reading Your Partner’s Messages

There has been a bit of a discussion, about celebrities reading their partner’s text messages and e-mails.

My late wife, C, never learned how to read or write text messages, much to the dismay of her work colleagues and friends, so they used to send any urgent messages to me anyway.

I wish she was still here, so I could still pass them on as necessary.

Mobile Phone Insurance

I like this post from Moneywise, saying that mobile phone insurance is the next scam.

I don’t have it, as it would just cost too much to insure a Nokia 6310i

What Do You Call a Pair of Nokia 6310i’s?

Superb! Especially as they both are now working.  Which is more than can be said for my Junkberry.

What Do You Call a Pair of Nokia 6310i’s?

With the Olympics in mind, I think I’ll go for gold at the moment.

Whatever happens, it’s bye-bye Junkberry.

Intel’s Simple Smart Phone

That’s what they say it is.  But I doubt it will beat a Nokia 6310i. Read about it here.

But Intel have never eaten ARM yet on electricity usage for a given power.

My Nokia 6310i Got Cooked

It now looks like my Nokia 6310i seems to have got rather cooked in this house. I’ve always felt that the atmosphere was weird to say the least and according to the menders the phone has suffered from water damage, as had the other one I sent to them. Perhaps the reason the Junkberry has died is down to the same reason and obviously, it might have something to do with why computer mice keep packing up. I’ve also had trouble with the remote control of my television. The remote control problem is usually solved by bringing in the one from the bedroom, which is virtually the same.  But the air in the bedroom is different.  It looks like the electronic equipment gets hot and then all of the water condenses on it.

This would also explain, why I feel so much better, when I go for a walk.

My Junkberry Has Now Packed Up Completely

This morning the Junkberry has now given up completely.

When I went to go shopping, I thought I’d give it a go, but it was as dead as the proverbial dodo.

To make things worse, I just got a nuisance timewasting call from a scammer on my land-line. I gave them an alternative number, who will be really pleased to get the timewasters.
