A Bus in an Brighter Shade of Red
This bus had been painted in a rather odd shade of red or more likely orange.
It is being use to advertise Ed Sheeran
Adverts On Television
They were discussing this on BBC Breakfast this morning, so I gave them my four-pennyworth.
I must be the only person, who’s not seen any of Downton Abbey.
The reason, is I don’t watch adverts. So when football is on ITV and BBC Radio 5 Live, I listen to the radio.
When I moved to London, I had to cancel my old Sky subscription. They asked, if there was anything would make me resubscribe in my new house. I said, jokingly, a subscription without ads at an extra cost. They said I wasn’t the first to say that.
Shoot the meerkats!
Until I get the no-advert Sky option, I’ll continue to watch and listen to the BBC.
A Pair of Wongas
Wonga is now targetting the business market.
Did they give the drivers a bonus to be in convoy?
An All-Over Train on the Overground
I took these pictures at Canonbury station on the North London line.
I’m not sure, whether I like the concept, but I suppose it brings in money.
A Pro-Staffy Advert
Staffies have a bad press, but the Battersea Dogs Home have a serious problem, in that so many get turned in.
This poster is trying to redress the balance.
It’s an interesting idea.
Bus Adverts Must Work!
Or at least they must have done for Wonga after their series of adverts a couple of months ago. As they are now using a whole new set of adverts for their Wonga for Business product.
The adverts are everywhere on a bus route near you.
On the other hand, they have been criticised by the OFT according to this report.
Top Cat Returns
It would appear that the latest film is a remake of the kids’ cartoon, Top Cat. It’s so old, I used to watch it as a child. Although, they had to call it Boss Cat to avoid conflict with a tinned cat food of the same name.
Judging by the number of buses, they’re advertising it on, it isn’t going to do very well.
Congratulations Your Majesty
I’ve only seem it on one bus on route 21, so it might be unique.
Although, I have seen it several times, before I got this picture at Newington Green. In some ways to photograph it there is appropriate, as that is the area of London, where the non-comformists based themselves in the seventeenth century. It has a long connection with Mary Wollstonecraft. It is a place well worth a visit, as it has a nice garden and some buildings worth a look.
Where Have All The Stonewall Bus Adverts Gone?
I sat in Starbucks in Upper Street today having a cappuccino, but I didn’t see one of Stonewall’s adverts, that used to be so numerous.
Perhaps the contract has finished.
But I did see a lot advertising a film called Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
It used to be the rumour that when a film was advertised extensively on buses, it was not the best.
Transport for London Bans Gay Cure Bus Adverts
I put up an article a couple of weeks ago about Stonewall’s adverts on London buses.
I thought there would be some protests and after watching them for nearly three weeks, I haven’t even seen one that has been damaged.
I usually read the Evening Standard and listen to the local news and have seen no reports of any protest either.
But now some gay cure adverts planned by an opposing Christian group, have been banned by Transport for London, as reported here.
I have read about the therapy they are promoting in serious newspapers and magazines and it is not something I believe will work. Therapy, such as that for smoking and nail-biting does work, but only because the person seriously wants to give up. So on the same basis if a person seriously wanted to stop being gay, some simple less agressive therapy might help. There is a serious article in the Guardian, that anybody who believes religious-based methods cure people from being gay should read.
But my biggest issue with the adverts, is that they mimic the ones from Stonewall.
Surely this is an infringement of copyright!
Just imagine the row if Pepsi-Cola copied an advert from Coca-Cola.
