Why Would You Ever Wash Chicken?

My mother always told me, that you should cook all meat properly.

C never washed any meat either. In fact she didn’t really liked touching it, so often I was the one to put it in the dish for cooking.

So I have never washed any meat before cooking.

So now with reports that washing chicken actually spreads disease, I’m tempted to say my mother knew best.

The Advantage Of A Full Beard

My bathroom in Pensionat Udden was shared.

This was no disadvantage for me, as all I need in the morning is a shower, a clean of my teeth and a good scratch of my face to be ready for the day.

However, it would all have been different, if I’d had to have a shave every morning.

But of course with a full beard, I don’t!

Strange Packaging

I always buy a new deodorant and toothpaste when I fly, as that means i don’t have to separate out all the bottles from my hand luggage.

Strange Packaging

This odd-shaped packaging for a deodorant was silly, as it won’t stand upright.

But why is it I can’t buy a small deodorant, toothpaste and perhaps shampoo in a chemist, after I’ve passed through the security checks.  That sounds like someone is missing an opportunity. Perhaps Boots should march in.

After all Departure Areas of airports, are places you can buy loads of expensive things, you don’t need or even want and only a few affordable things that you do.

Enjoyable travel for me, is partly about carrying as little as you can.

Buying A Suitable Wash Bag

I’m going on holiday on Monday and I needed a new wash-bag. I searched the shops in Canary Wharf and Islington and found nothing suitable. eventually I bought this pencil case in Paperchase.

It is ideal for what I need.

I suppose the market isn’t that big, but I need one that is large enough to take an electric toothbrush, my hairbrush and a few other bits.

I would also think there might be a case for making them like old-fashioned gym bags with a draw string.

I think the trouble too, is that most are bought by women and they need to carry a lot more.

I should say that paperchase do sell wash bags, but these were too small for the electric toothbrush.

Canning Town Has A Flying Rat Problem

I photographed this mess at Canning Town station.

They need to get the eagle out to deal with the flying rats. A wash and brush-up would be helpful too!

Choosing A Shampoo

I get fed up with shampoo.  For years I used the same brand and then it was rebranded for split ends, more bounce, better colour etc.  I just want something that gets my hair clean.

Today in Waitrose at Canary Wharf I couldn’t even find the one I changed to or the standard Essential Waitrose cheap one.

So I bought what I used to use, when the children were young; Johnson’s Baby Shampoo.

AT least it should be kind to my sore eyes.

Glasses in the Bath

When I am abroad, I always have to remember to take my glasses into the bath or shower.  At least for the first time, as I can’t read which bottle is shampoo.  I once tried to wash my hair in body lotion.  It didn’t work.

Can we have a big S on shampoo bottles please?

President Ahmadinejad’s Personal Hygiene

This is another from PopBitch.

One of the things Iran’s President Ahmadinejad is most known for in political and diplomatic circles is his B.O. He has been described to us as smelling “musty” and “like a billy-goat”. Our drunk Whitehall source this week gave an interesting take on the West’s attitude towards him. The Chinese are said to be appalled by Ahmadinejad’s standards of personal hygiene – it offends their cultural norms. And so, despite everything – democracy, freedom ‘n all that, Britain and the US don’t mind him staying in power. The Chinese are not likely to give political support to somebody so weird/smelly. Which will help delay Iran getting nuclear weapons.

Let’s hope the last bit of the story is right.

On another serious note, someone who treats his countrymen and especially countrywomen, doesn’t deserve to be in power.  The sooner he goes and Iran gets a proper non-religious democracy the better.

But I doubt, I’ll see that in my lifetime.

Can anybody name a Muslim country that has moved from a religius dictatorship to something even a little bit better?
