Wonga Move Into Credit Card Territory

According to this article from the BBC, Wonga are moving into credit card and web fulfilment territory with their latest service called PayLater.

Although, I’m not a fan of Wonga, it could be a good idea, provided they moderate their interest rates.

Would I like to see someone like Zopa or Ratesetter doing the same? Only of course, if they didn’t relax their credit checks.

After all, for years, with many products and some big purchases like cars, finance has been an integral part of the process.

The trouble with something like Zopa doing this, could be, that if the loan is turned down, then the sale could be lost.

But Wonga’s thinking does show how the banks and credit card companies are getting it in the neck from the new financial innovators.

Reach For A Lawyer

One thing that has always puzzled me about mass killings in the United States, is that no-one has used a lawyer to sue someone, who was loosely connected to the crime.  The people, who made the guns and the bullets for a start. And what about his mother’s estate or his father, who moved out? They could also sue the school for not having a US Marine in every class room. The list could be endless to a creative lawyer.

After all McDonalds were successfully sued by someone who spilt a cup of hot coffee. I once did that to myself, so should I claim against the airline for serving me in error, when I have a gammy hand? As I spilt it all over that hand, perhaps the damage to the nerves caused my stroke. On the other hand, I would have lost the case, as I said sorry to the stewardess.

The Troubled Adam Lanza

It would appear from reports like this, that Adam Lamza was a very troubled kid.

It all goes to prove my feeling that as guns are so dangerous, they should always be under lock from two separate responsible people. I know this was originally proposed by the NFU to stop suicide amongst farmers, but it would help to stop the number of people killed in a country, where people habitually owned guns.

It would never be implemented in the United States, as the idiots of the NRA and many others, would consider it a major assault on freedom.

Boots Off Driving

I’ve often had strange problems wiuth the feeling in my feet throughout my life.

I can remember that years ago, I used to slip my shoes off and drive in bare feet. This would probably have been in the mid-1960s.

It’s strange but walking around Palma tonight, they felt exactly the same.

So I suppose I shouldn’t worry!

It does strike me though that my health is regressing to what it was like when I was in my late teens and early twenties.

How weird!

In Praise Of Slow Boarding

Easyjet say they changed their boarding system in response to customer feedback.

Some may prefer assigned seating, but I don’t!

With Easyjet, I just waited until the end and walked on last. I knew I’d get an aisle seat, which no-one wanted and often I would be first off.

As it was on this flight, I waited in line with no seats in the departure area.  So I suppose to save costs, they’ve done away with letting you sit down, whilst waiting for a plane.

If this boarding experience is now the norm, I think that they’ve lost a customer.

Sunday Bloody Times

I’ve read The Sunday Times for years and got a copy at Stansted.

Why oh why, haven’t they changed to a tabloid size, as it is not the paper to try reading on a plane?  Especially, as the newsprint they use today, seems to be incapable of folding and sticks together all the time.

I’ve Got The Sun But No Plumbing

I must be the only person, who when they book a 4* hotel always seems to get a problem.

This time it’s the plumbing.  The bath and/or the shower is unusable and because it’s Sunday, there is nothing that the staff in the Palacio Avenida can do. They could have offered to move me to another room, but they didn’t make the offer and as the room is otherwise comfortable and convenient, I didn’t think to push it at the time.

We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

But as my bath is at the moment being replaced at home and the showers aren’t top-notch, I thought that a few days away would be a relief not more trouble.
