But nothing is said about conversion to hydrogen, which I believe is the ideal fuel for a large vehicle.

So I asked Google AI, if a Wrightbus Ultroliner can be converted to hydrogen-power, and received this answer.

  4. It would appear that the Cummins ISB in the Ultroliner  has a hydrogen version, that can be created by changing the fuel system and the cylinder head.

I wouldn’t be surprised, if Cummins told me, that they could make a convertible diesel, that could power a small hatchback.

Out of curiosity, I asked Google AI, “What is the power of a diesel Mini” and received this answer.

Conclusion

I believe that in the next few years, a serious manufacturer will release a diesel car that can be converted to hydrogen power.

Eventually, this will mean that government can withdraw fossil fuels for road vehicles.

Rail Line To Reopen After 60 Years In £120m Project

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on the BBC.

This is the sub-heading.

An Oxford railway line closed to passengers since 1963 is being reopened.

These three paragraphs add detail to the story.

The Cowley Branch Line is currently only used by freight going to and from the BMW Mini Plant, but new stations will be opened in Cowley and Littlemore in south-east Oxford.

The government has pledged £120m in funding, part of a £500m investment in infrastructure to link up Oxford and Cambridge and turn the region into the “European Silicon Valley”.

Anneliese Dodds, MP for East Oxford, said the Cowley Branch Line was “finally going to become a reality”.

Have the Government finally got the message that reopened branch lines are good for growth, like I believe the Dartmoor and Northumberland Lines have been?

The Wycombe Railway

The Cowley Branch Line was originally the Wycombe Railway and ran all the way via  Thame, Princes Risborough, Saunderton, West Wycombe, High Wycombe, Marlow and Bourne End to Maidenhead station, as detailed by a map in its Wikipedia entry.

It looks to me, that this was a railway, that could have been developed, rather than closed.

Why BMW Chair Oliver Zipse Says Hydrogen Cars Will Be The “Hippest Thing” On The Road

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Hydrogen Fuel News.

BMW Chair Oliver Zipse recently spoke at an interview in Goodwood, England, underscoring that hydrogen cars will soon be the most desirable zero-emission passenger vehicles to drive, not battery electrics.

He made these points and predictions.

  • Electric vehicles will hit their peak in about ten years, then H2 will take over.
  • After the electric car, which has been going on for about 10 years and scaling up rapidly, the next trend will be hydrogen.
  • When it’s more scalable, hydrogen will be the hippest thing to drive.

I agree with him, but I do find anybody called Zipse to take seriously, because of the character in the Tom Sharpe novel; Porterhouse Blue.

BMW: Fuel Cell Electric Drive Trains Could Become Our Fourth Pillar

BMW have released this video.

Could this be a significant moment in the future of motoring?

Since the 1970s, BMW have led motoring with advanced vehicles and this seems to be following that trend.

As they say in the video, hydrogen is well suited for SUVs and longer ranges.

Ihope this vehicle is a success, as it could change the colour of personal motoring in a big way!
