I Left A Tissue In My Smalls
In the washing yesterday, I left a tissue in the pocket of my tennis shorts.
This was one of my biggest offences with C. I don’t think that I’ve done it for years.
I doubt I will again!
Canary Wharf’s Floating Bridge
Whilst at West India Quay DLR station, I also looked at the floating bridge.
It is a unique design and it is something that could be copied elsewhere.
Canary Wharf CrossRail Station
Coming home, I stopped off at West India Quay DLR station and took these pictures of the new CrossRail station at Canary Wharf.
Note Billingsgate Fish Market in the background. That was the setting for this BBC news item about a seal, who lives by the fish market.
Coming North On The Cable-Car
I usually traverse the cable-car from north to south, but on Sunday, I went the other way, as the DLR wasn’t running to Royal Victoria because of Crossrail works.
Afterwards, I walked to Canning Town station, took the Jubilee line to Canary Wharf for lunch.
London Bridge Bus Station Is Open Again
After the closure caused by the sewer failure, the bus station at London Bridge station is now open again.
I’m pleased as it gives me an easy way home from the Jubilee line, with a Marks and Spencer’s at the interchange to the bus.
Through The City Of London Under Blue Skies
Yesterday morning, I took a 141 bus, through the City of London to London Bridge station.
Sunday mornings, and especially fine ones, are a good time to visit the City of London. At that time, you can usually get up front on a double-decker bus, to get the best pictures.
Leeds Under Warnock Haven’t Changed
Ask any reasonable football fan to give their list of clubs, that they don’t like and Leeds United will generally be in there. Ask about managers to Ipswich fans and Neil Warnock, will certainly be on the list of those they think don’t behave correctly.
So on Saturday Leeds started playing in a way that wouldn’t win many friends amongst neutral fans. Eventually, Jay Tabb was unfairly clattered by Tom Lees and sent off. The picture shows the aftermath.
The sending off probably led to Ipswich winning three-nil, but you wouldn’t think that Ipswich should have won according to this from Warnock. This excerpt shows he was at a different game.
It’s a crazy day and I can’t believe we haven’t won.
We were dominating. I’ve never been to Ipswich and dominated as much as that in my life. If I was (Ipswich boss) Mick (McCarthy) I’d fill in a lottery ticket tonight.
After all, the skill of good management is to make sure that those working for you, act in a way to maximise your skills and resources.
Warnock didn’t do that, but just seems to get his players to irritate everybody with their tactics.
In the end, Ipswich fans went home, feeling very pleased that the defeat had been inflicted on some of their most disliked rivals.
Although, we weren’t pleased with the snow that was falling. But perhaps it cooled Warnock’s anger!
Unusual Bike Storage
This bike storage rack has been introduced at the other end of my road outside the Job Centre.
It is another innovative idea from Cyclehoop.
As a pedestrian, I like it, as anything that gets bikes out of the way and off the pavement is to be welcomed. I do wish that they had one at my end of the road, so that as I pass the pub, it would make it less of an obstacle to get to the bus stop, as at busy times, the road is the only safe place, with smoking drinkers and bikes chained to every conceivable street pole.
As to whether the loss of a vehicle space would matter, I don’t think any of my visitors ever find it difficult to find a place to park!
I think we also need a nearer Boris bike station, but that is another matter!
Is This Because Of The Hour Change?
I saw this sign on a shop near me.
As I took the picture, the weekend of the hour change, it might have been true for one day only.
But does the owner alter it, when the clocks go the other way?
An Overground Station With On-Platform Cafe And Toilets
On Friday, I came home from Euston, by taking the Overground to Willesden Junction station and then taking the North London line to Highbury and Islington station.
I was surprised to see that at Willesden Junction station, there was not only a cafe on the platform, but toilets too!
I wonder if there are any others!
It may seem a bit of a roundabout route, especially, as I could have taken the Victoria line to do the same journey. But I wanted to see if the sun was creating any good views of London between Camden Road and Canonbury and Barnsbury stations.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t! BUt it is a good trip for visitors, as this post showed. Unfortunately, the trains have been such a success, that you may not get good views as they can be a bit crowded.
