Psycho or Harry?

At present they are the only two candidates for the job of England coach, if you assume that the coach must be English; Stuart Pearce and Harry Redknapp.

For Euro-2012, both would have other duties, with Harry at Tottenham and Pearce involved with Team GB at the Olympics.

So if one of them get the England job part-time, it wouldn’t be good for England in Euro-2012.

In my view, Pearce is better qualified, as the England team for the next few years, will be players he’s brought through the Under-21s.  He also knows the various factions in the FA and how they operate. He would have handled the Terry situation very differently to Capello.

Also read, Pearce’s biography in Wikipedia.  He’s made the odd mistake, but he’s never been involved in any scandal. And he learns from his mistakes.  Does Harry?

But don’t forget that Pearce was playing on the day of the Hillsborough tragedy and I suspect, that deep down he wants to avenge it. He will some way some time, even if he doesn’t get the England job.

Also what happens, if he’s caretaker manager for the Holland match, sends out his team, and wins handsomely.  Could he be overlooked for England manager? If he doesn’t win, looking as his record, he would probably put up a good showing at the Olympics.

Is Bob Crow Going to the Olympics?

I suspect that if he does go, he won’t be too popular after holding the organisers to ransom over extra payments to his members.

Unless of course Ken wins the London Mayor election and he’ll be a guest of honour, along with a lot of other strange people.

Should Paul Scholes Captain GB in the Olympics?

Rules say that for Olympic football, you must pick an under-23 side, but you are allowed three overage players in your side. This article in the Daily Mail says that Giggs, Scholes and Beckham could be those overage players.

Obviously others will have their view and especially, when it is known, who’s not going to Euro-2012.

Bus-Top Art

The stop at the end of my road has got one of the new video displays, which are part of bus-top art.

I tried to get a picture of the art this morning, but failed. Perhaps it wasn’t switched on yet.  Or perhaps, the angle is wrong from a new hybrid 76 bus.

It is all part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

It will be interesting to see it, when it’s working properly.

Here is a video I took on February 16th, 2012

The camerawork could be better, but it does show the concept.

You’re Never Far From a Rat in London

I took this picture on the Greenway by the ViewTube yesterday.

You're Never Far From a Rat in London

As I was standing on top of the Northern Outfall Sewer, which lies under the Greenway, I suppose this is to be expected.

Crossrail and Pudding Mill Lane

Crossrail is also getting in on the act, just to the south-west of the Olympic site.  It will emerge by the Pudding Mill Lane station on the DLR. These are some pictures I took yesterday.

Unfortunately, the angles from the station doesn’t allow any decent pictures of the construction of the Crossrail portal to be taken.

The Greenway Bridge Over Stratford High Street Nears Completion

I took some pictures of this bridge in September last year.

Here are some more recent ones from yesterday.

It looks like it’ll be on time for the Olympics.

From Stratford to Stratford International on the DLR

I took this video on the Docklands Light Railway today.

I wasn’t sitting in the cab, as this is a driverless train.  But I would have been if it wasn’t! The DLR must be the only train, where passengers get a windscreen wiper.

As the train slows into Stratford International, you can see the Olympic Village on your left.

The Olympic Torch is Going to Dublin

I didn’t realise this, until I read this article in the Irish Times.

But then the Irish always like a good party.

And I’ve always found, that the English often get on better with the Southern Irish, than they do with the Scots and the Northern Irish.

A Small Punch Up At The Olympic Park

I was down the Olympic Park today and a boxing ring had been setup.

Boxing at the Olympic Park

But as you can see it wasn’t a normal fight. The British Olympic hopefuls for 2012, were joined by two of the British team from 1948.

The banter was funny, but the two eighty-year-olds were in superb nick. They were complaining though that they had to train for 1948 in an era of rationing. One was wearing his 1948 team blazer.
