The Show Must Go On!
This steel band at the Angel had the right idea.

The Show Must Go On!
They didn’t seem to be too worried about rusty instruments.
Avoiding The Rain
I went to the football at Ipswich yesterday and the rain was so bad, I didn’t feel like walking to the bus stop to get a 141 bus to Liverpool Street station.
So I walked to the closest stop and got a 56 bus to the Angel. It wasn’t any better there.

A Very Wet Angel
But at least I got there in the dry and was able to walk into the Underground, to get a train to Liverpool Street with one change at Moorgate station. Normally, I’d have walked from Moorgate, but it was just that wet.
Coming back, the weather was just as bad, so I used an unusual route to keep dry. I took a Metropolitan line train to Barbican station and caught another 56 back to my house.
At least the rain seemed to have abated slightly in Ipswich, but the game wasn’t a good one. There were so many mistakes and I suspect precise control was difficult. So many simple passes were missed by both sides. Perhaps football yesterday was summed up by the result at Peterborough, where the home side beat Bolton by five goals to four.
Santa’s In Charge
I rode back from the Angel today on a New Bus for London. The driver/conductor was dressed for Christmas. And for the weather!

Santa’s In Charge
At least the red is compatible with London buses’ iconic colour.
How To Rip Off Amazon?
With all the fuss about the tax Amazon doesn’t pay I like this advert.

How To Rip Off Amazon?
It’s boldly displayed in Angel station.
Rekindle is defined in a dictionary as to arouse or cause to be aroused again.
What Do They Put In The Chicken Tikka Dupiaza At The Angel Curry Centre?
I went to the Angel Curry Centre in Chapel Market, Islington last night and had my usual shamee kebab followed by chicken tikka dupiaza.
I feel a lot better this morning, as the pain I’ve been suffering in my jaw has lessened. It did the same a couple of weeks ago after a curry.
I can’t think that their currys are very different from the standard recipe, although I suspect they do put something in, that others don’t.
So what is in the average chicken tikka dupiaza? I found this recipe on a site called Curry Frenzy. They’ll even sell you the spices to make your own!
It looks like the spices are chilli, garlic, ginger, turmeric and some mild curry powder.
I suppose I should keep eating the curry. Especially, if the weather remains this cold.
Why Can’t I Shop In One Store?
Sainsburys and Waitrose are side-by-side at the Angel, but as the picture shows, I have to shop in both.
This Waitrose doesn’t sell any decent gluten-free bread, whereas their store a mile or so at Highbury Corner does. So before going to Waitrose, I had to get the bread from Sainsburys.
Carluccio’s Or Starbucks?
This is a decision, I have to make every Monday morning at the Angel.
Normally, if I want a coffee early in the morning, as I’m off to the shops, I go to the cafe opposite.
But on Monday they are shut and I also generally go to the Angel to get my provisions for the first few days of the week.
So do I go to Carluccio’s or Starbucks for my pre-shopping coffee, whilst I work out what to buy.
For some time, I’ve gone to Starbucks, as it’s close to Waitrose, but recently, I’ve started to use the Carluccio’s a little further away.
Could this be because of all the publicity about Starbucks tax position in the UK?
After all, their coffee is only ten pence more, you get a comfortable seat and friendly staff, the queues are minimal and if you need to use the medical comforts, they are clean and excellent.
It will be interesting to see, how many people change their coffee habits!
Is Curry Good For Me?
Last night I had a good curry at the Angel Curry Centre in Chapel Market at the Angel.
My throat hasn’t been good lately, but it certainly seems to have improved after the curry.
But then it’s not just curry that does that. Marks and Spencer’s roast pork in a cider sauce has a similar calming effect. There are various articles on the web, which say curry does have good effects. like this one.
But then C and I always used to go for a curry on Monday nights, although in later years we didn’t go quite as often.
So I know one thing I’m going to do to improve my health and that is have a weekly curry.
A Movember Thought
This was yesterday’s Thought of Angel.
They do very well at Angel tube station to get a new thought every day.
A Poppy Covered Bus
For Poppy Day, TfL have decorated two buses appropriately.
This picture shows one on route 55 at the Angel, Islington.
