Does Elizabeth Rizzini Ever Wear The Same On-Screen Outfit Twice?

Elizabeth Rizzini is one of the ladies, who do the weather on BBC London.

She is always well-turned out, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen her wear the same on-screen outfit twice.

Unlike the obviously canny Scots lass, who usually does the weather on BBC Breakfast.

Are The New Bus for London’s Overheating Problems Fixed?

According to this article in the Standard, Sir Peter Hendy says that the overheating problems on the New Bus for London are fixed.

But don’t just take his word for it.

Today I went with a friend from Trafalgar Square to Warren Street on one of the new buses on Route 24.

It was very pleasant despite it being a very hot day.

I do have a slight reservation about route 24, in that, when the Hackney 8 on route 38 were running double-crewed, the atmosphere did  sometimes catch a bit of  a party mood.  But probably, that’s because Hackney is the East End with all its bustle and humour and Hampstead is a lot more posh and sedate. I’ve even been chatted up by a widow some years older than me on a 38! That certainly wouldn’t happen on a 24!

My House Is Hot Today

When I left this house about eleven, I deliberately left the curtains open and the air-conditioning off.

As you can see the sun was also pouring in through the skylight, but the temperature on my return was over thirty degrees. After about an hour the air-coditions has got it down to 27.  But it’s still hot!

i do think though, that the skylight is one of the major causes of the overheating. But no-one can make a blind to keep the sun out.

Is This The Problem I Have With My House?

I’ve just read this report on the BBC’s web site, about some research on the government’s Green Deal by Lounghborough University.

A lot of it rings true with me and my house. Take this piece.

Temperatures could soar to dangerously high levels in some homes insulated under the government’s flagship Green Deal scheme, experts have warned.

Energy-saving measures designed to save on winter fuel bills and protect the environment could pose a risk to health during summer heatwaves, they add.

The government says it is aware of the problem and is taking steps to prevent overheating in Green Deal properties.

Homes in densely populated urban areas such as London are most at risk.

Heat can build up during the day and has nowhere to escape at night leading to poor air quality and a greater risk of heat stress for the occupants which, in extreme cases, can kill.

The bit about air quality could apply to my house, as I always feel the air is not good. My son, used to come in and throw the windows open immediately.

It’s Hot Out There!

I’ve got the air-conditioning on with the curtains drawn and it’s still 24.7°C in my living room.

But the air-conditioner is showing an air temperature of 30°C on my roof.

I’m watching Murray against Djorkovic and I do wonder if Murray is playing the psychological card by not wearing a hat. After all logically, as someone born a lot further north than his opponent, you’d think, he wouldn’t be able to take the heat as well!

Who’d Want To Drive From London To Birmingham?

The weather wasn’t good and there had been a severe accident on the M25, so it wasn’t a good day to drive!

Who'd Want To Drive From London To Birmingham?

Who’d Want To Drive From London To Birmingham?

I took the picture, when the M1 ran alongside the railway by Watford Gap.

My Health Goes Up And Down

This has been a rather up and down week for how I feel.

On Monday, I had an echo-cardiogram and I think it went pretty well.  At least I was told it was better than the last one.

But then yesterday, I went to Brighton for lunch and coming back, the weather had broken and I was choking and wheezing, like I did as a child.

I was feeling bad in the the evening and I texted a friend, who has suffered similarly this winter. She texted back “Not cough but catarrh and intermittent headache.”

That could sum me up too and in some funny ways, I’m almost worse indoors.

I’m looking at how all this relates to my INR, which I’m now taking daily.

At least my INR is within its prescribed range and for the last few days it has been spot on 2.5, as measured by my CoaguChek device.

Just going to have a bath and put my head under the water. Temporarily I should add!

Do Weather Babes Make Weather Forecasts Better?

When did you last see an ugly or obese lady doing the weather on the television?

Even the Scottish lady of a certain age, who does the weather on BBC Breakfast, would be an acceptable partner on a date.  I did see her once in the flesh and I think she looks younger on the box.

Today with the end of summer, BBC London has brought out one of their most glamorous presenters from a stable, that only includes one make, who seems to be only let out in the evening.

I do think that television, sexes up the weather.

The Floods In Central Europe

A few weeks ago I was in Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna and Southern Germany.

Now it seems that much of the area is under water, as the BBC reports.

I know it was only luck, but I certainly got my timing right.

I’ve never ever been flooded out in a house and I don’t ever want to be.

My hearts go out to all of those who are suffering.

Summer Over Haggeston

The blue sky just asked to be photographed.

I wish I’d taken a few more.  But then, if I had, the summer will end before it starts.

Still I did buy a raincoat yesterday and that will put the mockers on it.
