An iconic Victorian flax mill designed to look like an Egyptian temple could be the unexpected beneficiary of Rishi Sunak’s Budget windfall amid a proposal to turn it into a northern arm of the UK’s national library.
Sunak is contributing twenty-five million. to the conversion of the Grade One-Listed Temple Works.
Conclusion
I wondered where he would use some of the Government’s money in Yorkshire and this would appear to be where he has!
It is my belief, that this is the sort of bold plan we need to execute in this country!
COV-19 Isn’t Good For Chuggers
Outside Marks & Spencer on Dalston Kingsland Road this morning, I was accosted by a chugger.
I told him that because of the coronavirus, that I wouldn’t be stopping.
He gave a knowing look and allowed me to walk on!
He didn’t look pleased and I suspect, I wasn’t the first to give him that excuse.

Another Space To Be Filled
This Google Map shows the City of London North of Moorgate station.
Note the crossroads, where South Place goes East from the A501, which has LEON and Boots on the West side and Barclays Bank on the East.
The South-East corner of the crossroads has been redeveloped and now it the time for the North-West corner to be redeveloped.
The pictures show that the site has been cleared.
- At appears that the site will be a development called 20 Ropemaker Street.
- It will be up to 27 stories high.
- It will be 457,000 square feet of offices.
- There will be retail premises along Finsbury Pavement opposite Gap and Marks & Spencer.
- The building will be the new London headquarters for Linklakers LLP.
There are also hints on the Internet, that the main entrance will be opposite the entrance for Moorgate station, with all its connections to the following.
Circle Line
- Crossrail
- Hammersmith & City Line
- Metropolitan Line
- Northern Line
- Northern City Line
It looks to me that the developers are taking advantage of the transport developments.
‘World-First’ As Bunhill 2 Launches Using Tube Heat To Warm 1,350 Homes

Offshore Wind to Hydrogen Project Secures GBP 7.5 Million Funding

The next phase of Gigastack, a renewable hydrogen project, has secured GBP 7.5 million funding as part of the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Hydrogen Supply Competition.
The Gigastack project, led by ITM Power, Ørsted, Phillips 66 Limited, and Element Energy, will show how renewable hydrogen derived from offshore wind can support the UK’s 2050 net-zero greenhouse gas emission target.
Points from the article.
- A 100 MW system will be designed.
- Modules with a capacity of 20 MW will be used.
- Energy will be delivered directly from Ørsted’s Hornsea Two wind farm.
- Some of the hydrogen produced will be used in Phillips 66 Humber Refinery.
- ITM Power will trial their new electolyser and automatic manufacturing.
This seems an ambitious project.
An Accident In My Bedroom
I awork on Saturday morning to find myself in a bedroom covered in blood and a living room next door with half as much.
It appeared, that I’d fallen over the bathroom step in the middle of the night and banged my head on the toilet.
I ended up spending a night in the Royal London Hospital and they fixed me up well!
It is now Monday morning and the first picture says a lot. Note the the mat by the step is out of line. It slipped, I then tripped over the step and hit my head on the basin. There is olso an overturned stool in the bathroom, which I must have fallen on and this probably did more damage.
MAHYTEC Creates World’s First Hydrogen-Powered Riding Lawnmower
I searched for hydrogen-powered lawnmower and found this page.
Surely ideal for the Prince of Wales to buy for Camilla, when she does the mowing at Highgrove.
But seriously, if you can make a hydrogen-powered ride-on mower, you can make any number of smaller horticultural and agricultural vehicles, that run on hydrogen.
How long before John Deere or one of the big Japanese manufacturers releases a hydrogen-powered lawnmower, that takes the large grass-cutting market by storm?
It won’t be just the grass, that is green!
I suspect a company like ITM Power will provide the operator with their own hydrogen generator.
I can envisage the farm of the future, having the following.
- Hydrogen powered tractors, loaders and other powered machinery.
- Hydrogen-powered Range-Rover to speed through the lanes.
- Hydrogen-powered lawn mower to make the place look good.
- Hydrogen-powered vehicles for road use.
All would be powered by the farm’s own hydrgen generator, which might use their own wind turbine.
