ITOCHU, Taisei Corporation And Mineral Carbonation International Announce Collaboration

This collaboration is reported in this article on Market Screener, which is entitled ITOCHU : Announces Collaboration With Taisei Corporation In Initiative With MCi Testing Uses Of Concrete From Calcium Carbonate With Mineral Carbonation.

This paragraph described MCi’s mineral carbonation technologies.

MCi is a company that has pursued fifteen years of research and development into mineral carbonation and possesses the technology to produce a range of low carbon embodied materials including calcium carbonate by carbonating minerals in slag and other by-products of the steelmaking process (mainly steelmaking slag), coal ash produced by thermal power plants, and other industrial waste materials containing magnesium or calcium (mine tailings: by-products from the collection of metals and ore).

It also appears that ITOCHU invested in MCi last year.

I have read the whole article and I suggest that this collaboration could grow into something very big.

Do They Paint Their Own Toilets Like This?

I took these pictures in the toilet of a Thameslink train.

It is vandalism, pure and simple and those that did this should spend a long time in a suitable prison!

But then I hate graffiti and others might consider it art!

Why Can’t More Bags Be Like This?

I recently had my shoes fixed in Timpsons.

This was the bag that the company gave me with the shoes

Surely, paper bags score highly in many ways; practicality, affordability, recyclability and as advertising.

Why don’t we see bags like these more often?

A French Banker’s View Of The French Police

After the violence at the weekend in Paris, I am reminded of a meeting with a French banker.

Many years ago, I used to do business with a French banker; Andre, who lived and worked in Geneva.

Whether, there had been an excess of violence by French police at the time, I can’t remember, but in a restaurant in Geneva we got talking about the different between French police and other forces in Europe. Andre stated that if you join the French police, you immediately lose all your friends, as no-one wants a policeman as a friend, such is the distrust of the police.

Andre had worked all over Europe, and felt that only in France, is there this attitude to the police.

Does this closed society of the French police lead to them going over the top, as they regularly seem to do?

I’d love to know what the French police think of refugees! I wonder, if they see them as a supreme nuisance and feel the sooner, they have left French soil the better.

Ukraine’s New Stealth Weapon

This article on Electrek is entitled Ukraine Is Now Using These 200-Mile-Range Electric Bikes With NLAW Rockets To Take Out Russian Tanks.

This is the first paragraph.

Ukrainian electric motorbike company Delfast has seen its electric bikes used for some vastly diverse tasks, such as breaking Guinness World Records and outfitting Mexican police. But their latest use is perhaps the bikes’ most important mission yet: helping Ukrainian soldiers strike a David vs. Goliath blow against Russia’s barbaric invasion of their country.

How do you protect your tank against a silent by deadly soldier coming to get you with a Belfast-made NLAW on a Ukrainian Delfast at 50 mph?

I suspect a fit well-trained soldier can outride a Russian T72 tank, hide in the forest and setup his NLAW. Now that’s humiliation!

It also appears from these two paragraphs, that Ukrainian snipers are also enjoying the advantages of electric bikes.

Another local Ukrainian company, ELEEK, has also supplied its country’s armed forces with silent, powerful electric motorbikes for use on the battlefield.

In that case, the electric motorbikes were requested for use by sniper teams.

The Ukranians seem to be a very inventive nation.

This Company Does What It Says In The Name

I took these pictures on Tottenham Court Road.

This is a Google Streetview from a few months ago.

I don’t think it will be missed. But it looks like another Crossrail related redevelopment.

Where Can I Try A Kneeling Chair In Or Near To London Before I Buy One?

For much of the last forty years, I’ve used a kneeling chair, as it takes the pressure of my left knee, which has been dodgy since my twenties. The wheels feel off the last one about a dozen years ago, before I moved here.

But my knee is giving me trouble and I need a new kneeling chair.

I generally don’t buy many things before I can try them and I certainly wouldn’t buy a kneeling chair without a few minutes test.

Imagine the hassle of after assembling it, trying to put it back in the box, if it had made my knee worse.

So does anybody know where I can try out a kneeling chair, anywhere between Birmingham and Brighton or Norwich and Bristol?

Even A Relic Of The True Cross Couldn’t Keep The 12,500-ton Moskva Afloat

The title of this post is the same as that of this article on The Times.

The relic and what happened to it, is described in this extract.

More unusually, it was also carrying a purported splinter from the cross on which Jesus Christ was said to have been crucified. The holy relic was purchased from a Catholic church in Europe by Russian Orthodox Christian businessmen and handed over to the cruiser in 2020. Just a few millimeters across, it was stored inside a 19th-century cross that was kept in the cruiser’s on-board chapel, the Tass news agency reported.

The article also claimed that an unnamed Russian businessman paid $40 million for the relic and that Putin’s admirals believed the thin sliver of wood deflected missiles and torpedoes.

This is comedy gold of the highest class.

It is time to unleash the dogs of comedy!
