I’m Watching The World Cup Draw With A Sick Bucket
Here’s the bucket, which is an ideal accompaniment to when Trump appears on television.

Note.
- I have seen a number of American presidents and Trump isn’t even worth rating.
- As Putin and Mohammed bin Salman’s friend and apologist he certainly doesn’t deserve any form of Peace Prize.
- And who was the strumpet in the lizard costume?
- I thought Robbie Williams had more sense than to provide entertainment.
- Who’s this black guy in a red hat?
- Rio Ferdinand seems to be doing a good job.
But then everybody has a realistic price.
I actually suspect, I won’t watch much of the World Cup, as I can find better things too do. I certainly won’t watch any matches, where Trump is present.
New Mexican Carrier Aerus To Operate Regional Routes Left By Aeromar
The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Simple Flying.
This is the first paragraph.
The new Mexican regional startup carrier Aerus will begin flying next month, according to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Javier Herrera. With a fleet of Cessna and Alice aircraft, Aerus is looking to replace Aeromar as the country’s leading regional airline flying point-to-point routes from its base in Monterrey International Airport (MTY).
The Rise Of Zero-Carbon Airlines
It looks like Aerus could be heading to join a list of zero- or low-carbon airlines.
Current airlines going in that direction include.
- Air New Zealand, who have released this press release, which is entitled Air New Zealand Launches Ambitious pProgramme For Zero Emissions Aircraft.
- Cape Air who have a large fleet of up to nine seat commuter airliners and 75 Eviation Alice on order.
- Evia AERO, which I wrote about in EVIA AERO Orders 25 Eviation Alice Aircraft.
- GlobalX has been reported as having 50 Eviation Alice on order.
- Harbour Air, which I wrote about in Harbour Air Set To Become The First All-Electric Airline In The World.
Some parts of aviation do seem to be decarbonising.
Mexico Tightens Ban On Smoking In Public Places
The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on the BBC.
This is the sub-heading.
Mexico has brought into force one of the world’s strictest anti-tobacco laws by enacting a total ban on smoking in public places.
And these three paragraphs outline the story.
The step, which was first approved in 2021, also includes a ban on tobacco advertising.
Several other Latin American countries have also passed legislation to create smoke-free public spaces.
However, Mexico’s legislation is considered to be the most robust and wide-ranging in the Americas.
If I was going to list countries that I felt would bring in tough anti-smoking legislation, I don’t think, I would have named Mexico.
Gulf Of Mexico Train Ferry Fleet Renewal
The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Railway Gazette International.
This is the first two paragraphs.
The first of two train ferries ordered for CG Railway’s route across the Gulf of Mexico has been launched by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co in China.
The CGR joint venture of Genesee & Wyoming and SEACOR Holdings transports 10 000 wagons/year between Mobile in Alabama in the USA and Coatzacoalcos in Mexico.
I was surprised about this article, as between the US and Mexico wasn’t where I would expect to find a train ferry.
But it obviously makes sense as two new ships don’t come cheap.
Some other points from the article.
- The two new ships will increase capacity by forty percent.
- There will be a 44 % reduction of CO2 emissions compared to the all rail route.
- The ships are designed to be pandemic proof.
- The ships take five days for the trip, which is half the time of the all-rail route.
I can see this investment being copied in various places around the world.
Sex Trafficking, Forced Marriage and Honour Killings
Some of the news just gets worse. Take this story about Mexicans trafficking women to the United States and other places for the purpose of prostitution and sex slavery.
Some of the figures in the report are horrendous.
$32 billion – Annual turnover of human trafficking industry
9.8 million – Total involved in unpaid work or prostitution
800,000 – People trafficked across borders each year
79 % – Of those trafficked are women or girls
And then we have the Shafilea Ahmed case, where she was murdered because, she wouldn’t agree to a forced marriage to someone she’d never met in Pakistan.
To me there is little difference. In my view to use threats and violence to exploit women makes those that do it, the lowest of the low.
We probably can’t do much about the problems in Mexico and the United States, but we should put lots of teeth behind the views of Baroness Warsi, her father and everyone, who believe that women have the right to choose how they lead their life.
They Do Presidential Debates Differently In Mexico
This story about a Mexican presidential debate, shows they do things rather differently.
Basically, the production company hired a lady to escort the candidates to the podium and she wore rather inappropriate clothing. Or perhaps clothes more appropriate for one of Berlusconi’s parties.
