Green Jet Fuel Plant Developers’ Ioy As World Economic Forum Backs Method As Best Aviation Solution

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Business Live.

This is the first paragraph.

The World Economic Forum has backed sustainable aviation fuel as the most promising decarbonation policy for aviation, delighting the developers of a £350 million refinery on the Humber.

I bet Velocys are delighted.

I also think, that, the biodiesel, that they can produce, is a short term solution to the decarbonisation of rail freight and the heaviest vehicles powered by diesel.

It’s so much better than throwing the rubbish into landfill.

Good to see M & G getting involved in funding batteries.

Crossrail 2 Falls Victim To £1.8bn TfL Bailout

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on the Construction Enquirer.

It appears that one of the conditions of the bailout of Transport for London, is that ongoing consultancy on Crossrail 2, will be scrapped.

As someone, who lives in an area, that will benefit enormously from Crossrail 2, I still feel that this is a good idea, as for the last few years, the transport system in East London has coped well and other improvements already in the pipeline, will keep things going until the economy recovers from the covids and a rathional decision can be made about Crossrail 2.

Foresight, Island GP To Build 700 MW Of Zero-Subsidy Solar In UK

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Renewables Now.

This is the two opening paragraphs.

UK infrastructure and private equity investment manager Foresight Group LLC has set up a joint venture (JV) with solar project developer Island Green Power to work together on a UK pipeline of close to 700 MW.

The companies plan to jointly develop five projects in England and Wales, Foresight said on Thursday. The schemes will be implemented without any subsidies.

Surely, what is significant, is that this joint venture, appears to be viable without subsidy.

Who’d have thought that the UK would be able to have this amount of solar power, without government or taxpayer support?

The cost of solar must be dropping like a stone!

Lithium Project Raises Millions In A Day

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Cornish Stuff.

This is the introductory paragraph.

Cornish Lithium raised over £3m yesterday to fund new exploration and today opens up the crowd fund to the community.

It does seem to have been a very successful funding.

This to me is a key paragraph.

The company say they are delighted to note that approximately 15% of the pre-registered investors were from Cornwall.

The Cornishmen and Cornishwomen seem to be backing their local business!

Alternative Funding Seems To Be Doing Well

I watch a couple of crowdfunding sites and they certainly seem to be still attracting funds.

I have recently invested a small sum in Cornish Lithium, as I like both the technology and history of the company.

Their round of crowdfunding is coming to an end, as they have raised £4.5 million against a target of £1.5 million.

It certainly appears that there is money for a good company in these troubled times.

Siemens and Macquarie Form Calibrant Energy To Tackle Distributed Energy Market

The title of this post is the same as that of this article on Greentech Media.

This is the introductory paragraphs.

Macquarie Capital and Siemens have formed a joint venture to finance and build distributed energy projects, joining an increasingly competitive landscape in the growing corporate renewables market, the two announced this week.

The partnership, called Calibrant Energy, will initially focus its energy-as-a-service model in the United States, where corporate and industrial customers have become heavyweight renewables buyers as they seek to reach decarbonization goals.

It looks a good idea for a business venture.

I also like it, that two big corporate beats have got together tp finance and install renewable energy systems like solar.

ARM: Can ‘Crown Jewel’ Of UK Technology Be Protected?

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on the BBC.

These are the introductory paragraphs.

The UK government is “looking at options” to protect and ensure future investment in Cambridge-based ARM Holdings, which is being bought by US tech giant Nvidia from Japan’s Softbank.

This is a much more relaxed attitude than the government took when Softbank bought the world-leading chip designer in July 2016. At that time, Softbank announced it had agreed to legally binding commitments to increase investment, headcount and preserve its headquarters in the UK.

It is not too late for the government to impose conditions, but conversations on whether to impose them or what they might be have not even started.

Some of the original founders of ARM Holdings, would appear to be not very happy.

I have followed the company for a number of years, as I was in the same class at Liverpool University with Robin Saxby, who was ARM’s first CEO.

At great surprise to myself, I made a nice sum of money by investing in the shares at the right time.

I am less unhappy, as I think two opposite outcomes would be good for the UK.

  • It all goes pear-shaped and large numbers of talented engineers in Cambridge create several children of ARM.
  • Nvidia decides that the ARM model and location is better and moves the headquarters of the group to the UK. Trump and his policies could make this likely, by picking fights with countries where Nvidia and ARM have large markets.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

$15mn Solar Plant Funded By UAE’s ADFD Gets Capacity Boost To 15MW

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Utilities Middle East.

This is the sub-title.

Financing part of the Fund’s commitment of $350 million to support renewable energy uptake in developing countries.

I have read the whole article and it puzzles me. There is no mention, as to what Abu Dhabi gets in return.

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Seeking Alpha.
