Nearly 1,000 Covid-19 Vaccine Doses Meant For Town’s Most Clinically Vulnerable Had To Be Thrown Away

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on the Manchester Evening News.

It appears it was because of a refrigeration problem.

With the need to distribute this vaccine at -70°C, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

  1. Not great but if 500k have been administered not a bad failure rate. More concerning is the quoted comments from people who seem to believe just because they had the FIRST dose somehow normality was going to return. Ive heard this in my area from an oap that my wife is contacting several times a week seems of the view now she has had initial dose she can do what she wants. This is concerning in my view.

    • I am now sure, that I have a natural immunity due to my coeliac disease and long-term gluten-free diet and I’m staying safe in my house.

I am also convinced that as I shared a crowded train in January, with a lot of boisterous Chinese students, who had just got of a plane at Manchester Airport, I may have been exposed to the virus.

But I will take my vaccine when it’s offered.

  2. Probably just a typo. The vaccine was kept at -7C when it was supposed to be kept at -70C… Then again you appear to have corrected yours from what came in the email “With the need to distribute this vaccine at -7°C,”[sic]

  3. I spotted the typo and correct it. The trouble is, my left hand doesn’t work properly, so all typing is done with the right, working shift and control keys with my thumb.
