The Anonymous Widower

London Calling

Today, I’m up to london to check out a few things with the house, but mainly to switch on the gas, as otherwise I won’t have any heating or cooking.  I’ve not used a gas cooker since 1970, so that will be a learning process.

I’m now starting to plan a few places that I will visit.

  1. The Wood Green Cultural Quarter. Just up the road from my father’s print works.
  2. The Wood Green Empire.
  3. The Royal Iris at Woolwich.  She was in Liverpool, when I was at University.
  4. Fulham Football Ground.
  5. The New River.

I shall also explore a few walks.

  1. The Old Railways of North London and especially Seven Sisters to Palace Gates.
  2. The canals from Dalston to the River Lee and on to Walthamstowe.

It’s going to be fun!

  2. Many years ago I was the Team Leader for a project to supply ticketing systems. We supplied Chelsea, Fulham and Manchester United before I left to company. Those systems are long gone, but lasted for many years until the hardware was well obsolete and the parts no longer available. Somewhere I still have a few of the old ticket blanks I kept as souveniers.

  3. If on your travels you ever come across anything linked to John Wright and Sons, Veneer Merchants or Timber Merchants, please can you take a photo and send it to me.

John Wright was my Gt GT grandfather
