About This Blog
What this blog will eventually be about I do not know.
But it will be about how I’m coping with the loss of my wife and son to cancer in recent years and how I manage with being a coeliac and recovering from a stroke. It will be about travel, sport, engineering, food, art, computers, large projects and London, that are some of the passions that fill my life.
And hopefully, it will get rid of the lonely times, from which I still suffer.
Why Anonymous? That’s how you feel at times.

The majority of stations aren’t suitable for the less mobile although Swanscombe is particularly acute i agree. At least the steps are better than they were when i went there for the first time in the 70’s. That would cost c£5-6m to put an access for all bridge/lift/stairs in and there are simply more deserving stations than here. Mind you i was surprised to see Eridge had been prioritised over other stations along the line from Sth Croydon

When the budget for Crossrail to Ebbsfleet is £3.2 million, I suspect that making Swanscombe step-free is petty cash. Northfleet is also bad and under the Crossrail plan, it will have a connection to Ebbsfleet.
I suspect that Swanscombe could be easier, as Northfleet may need the assistance of Putin’s Merry Mercenaries or similar first to clear the site.
So why not update Swancombe first, so that closure of Northfleet for rebuilding will leave one operational station in the area?
As to Eridge, it is only a one platform station and I suspect that as it was easier and cheaper to make step-free than other stations nearby.
