First Community-Funded Solar-Plus-Storage Plant Opens For Investment

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on the Solar Power Portal.

This is the sub-heading.

The 7.4MW Common Lot solar park will be co-located with a 10MWh grid-connected BESS.

Note.

  1. UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has a median benchmark of 5.6 acres (2.25 hectares) per megawatt, so this solar park will be around 41.4 acres or a square with quarter-mile sides.
  2. If the BESS can provide full power for two hours, which is common, then it will have an output of 5 MW.
  3. Common Lot Solar Park has a web site.
  4. Both my houses in Suffolk, were in hamlets, where a system like this could have been installed.

I can see this model being repeated in rural areas or where there is a large building, that could support a large solar roof.
