Twenty20 Upsets

England’s Twenty20 team performed badly against South Africa yesterday, but so did the Australia’s against Pakistan.

Australia now seem to be ranked below Ireland in this form of cricket.

  1. The Oz Cricketers are on massive contracts . . . and many are full of themselves . . .

The classical game of Cricket, is a byegone era . . .

    20 / 20 is old tippity run; 50 Over One day . . . is the old Saturday Morning {10.00 to 4.00} local cricket . . .
Test Cricket is still a battle of Strategies / Tactics and many other aspects of this fantastic game . . .

    Last season . . the Tests were riviting . . . & enjoyable.

    What is wrong with 20/20 was shown up by the Aussies . . . the opening five overs {trying to defend & getting 1 or 2 runs per over} . . . can’t bat & can’t bowl . . .

    Beach Cricket . . . isn’t popular . . .

  2. 20/20 was what used to be played on Sundays by UK counties in the 1950s and 1960s, although it was different rules, but similar fireworks. It was usually played to raise money for charity. One day at the local ground, Fred Trueman pillaged a 100 off the local bowlers. All good fun and a lot of money was raised. 20/20 is alright, unless you take t too seriously. The UK counties don’t. Perhaps, the Aussies real problem is they don’t have enough top level teams. So even a minor match is taken too seriously.

    • You are spot with your comments on 20 / 20 . . .

I think you nailed it . . . too many million dollar contracts, for too few . . . so SERIOUSLY trying to defend these contracts . . .

      The Test / 50 Over / 20.20 are $500 K to Million Dollar Contracts. The State Games $50K to $120K players, the others . . . a Cuppa & Sandwhiches . . .

      Football Acadamies . . . play the young kids equal to State Games {100’s of Kids} . . .

      You are 100% spot on . . . Freddy Trueman, pulled a crowd everywhere . . . a Great Cricketer.
