The Wires Are Completed At Bolton

I took these pictures as I changed trains at Bolton station.

According to this article on Rail News, which is entitled Final Test Train Runs On Electrified Preston Line, the Manchester-Preston line has passed all the tests to allow Class 319 trains to run at 100 mph.

They also hope, that 100 mph running will start in May.

  1. I travelled on a 319 from MCO to Bolton on 20th February 2019. It was going from Manchester Airport to Preston (presumably Blackpool once they get that sorted).

It is incorrectly shown as still being a Sprinter in Traksy and RTT

Northern seem to be coupling up their 140 and 150’s in pairs, so off peak customers get some choice of whether to travel in the old bus part or something a bit more reasonable. At peak times they are often overcrowded, sometimes to the extent that passengers can’t even get on let alone find a seat…

    • It’s very much Club and Steerage classes, especially if the 150 has been refurbished to a good standard.
