Old Street Station – 16th November 2020
I took these pictures as I passed through Old Street station.
Note.
- The dreadful steps to and from the platforms.
- The last two pictures are for my information.
Will the station be made step-free in this rebuilding at the surface?
The plan is to include a lift in the new entrance from street to booking hall level .
While longer term they have announced plans to reuse old lift shaft to make station fully accessible but when funding will become available is not known

The lift shaft is still there. At least there’s escalators for those like me, who are just getting on in years. Moorgate, which is the next station will be fully step-free, when Crossrail opens.

Even more depressing than when I was using it 15 years ago. At least in those days it had a decent sandwich bar and a rather good bookshop!

From the visualisations, it looks like it’ll be more than back to its former glory in 2022.
