Design For Bank Tube Station Entrance For Approval

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Ian Visits.

This is the introductory paragraph.

Design details for Bank tube station’s new Cannon Street entrance have been submitted to the City of London for planning approval.

  1. It certainly looks to be an entrance with a very high capacity.
  2. It looks like there will be a fully-accessible toilet inside the barriers, which many will welcome.

I would hope that approval will be quickly nodded through!

  1. I’m surprised that gaining approval for new Bank Station entrance is being made at this late stage of the development given how complex the station layout with escalators and lift must be .

It seems the site used to be a McDonalds and Ian Allen makes the comment that it’s exchanging fries for oysters well it is the City of London !

This will be the second new street level entrance for Bank Station following the opening of the new Bloomberg entrance and demonstrates how if London is to ever get an accessible underground then more advantage of over stations development needs to be used as it often means just digging a bigger hole for the foundation and can come with a bonus of making development more attractive for users .

What’s now needed is redevelopment of buildings above Monument Station which includes lift interchange to Bank Station!
