Every Religion Seems To Have Its Mad Side

When I read stories like this, I despair of religion. I suspect most of my practicising friends do too!

Sometimes, there seems to be a contest to see which religion can be the maddest and cruelest.

Why can’t they stick to the agenda that most religions seem to agree on, about looking after your fellow man and trying to make the world a better place?

Surely stoning a dog to death doesn’t do that! Especially, as they’ve asked the local children to do it.

  1. I would have thought a lawyer was more likely to come back as a shark.

    • I think it depends on the field they work in. Most of my legal friends work in the fields of children or crime, which generally isn’t very well paid.

  2. The key here, and indeed to the mad side of all religions, indeed of most organistation, is the words “ultra orthodox”. I imagine most Jews are horrified by this. Indeed, I was not aware of dogs being impure animals in Judaism, I know they are in Islam, or at least, they are prohibited as pets in Islam. But I am sure I have heard various Jewish friends and colleagues talk about pet dogs.

  3. I’ve met quite a few Jewish people, who either have dogs or have had them as a child. But I don’t think I’ve ever met a Jewish dog breeder.
