A Visit To The London Mithraeum

These pictures show my visit to the London Mithraeum, which is hidden under the Bloomberg Building.

It is definitely worth a visit. And it’s free!

It gets a high rating on Trip Advisor.

Most people book, but I just turned up early on a Tuesday morning and walked right in!

I suspect that won’t be possible for long, as it will get busy!

Especially, when the new entrance to the Drain opens nearby in the New Year. Apparently, it’s rumoured to be running late on opening because of water leaks.

  2. It hasn’t been there since the site was originally developed in the 1950s. With the redevelopment of the site, it has been moved back to its original location.

  3. That is probably why I haven’t heard of it. We spent a week in London each year with my aunts and grandfather, and my aunts made sure I got to see all historical places relevant to what I was doing in school, so when we did Romans, they would have taken me there. It has just occurred to me, I always say I prefer city breaks to beach holidays. I started coming to London when I was six or seven, and had a fantastic time with the aunts, I wonder if that is why I still go for city breaks. Plus my mother was nicer to me when I was down there, she picked on my aunt instead.
