  1. Gonna get tough on the likes of the preserved steam railways and those who have restored traction engines etc. I believe much of the coal they get comes from Russia and if the CEGB cut out the need for coal then the cost of buying it for the preservation movement will surely rise.

    • I think the steam heritage industry will have two problems with coal.

      As you say obtaining supplies, but I suspect the Welsh will step in by mining enough of their high quality steam coal to satisfy the UK market.

      There is also the emission problem, which the likes of Extinction Rebellion probably say means the end of steam Heritage. But the amounts of CO2 are rather small in the grand scheme of things, so planting enough trees will probably sort that problem.

      I do see the possibility of steam locomotives like Tornado perhaps being fired by hydrogen, so they can work into the centres of cities.
