Hydrogen Tourist Transport Network Trialled In The Peak District

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Fleet News.

This paragraph outlines the trial.

A trial is taking place in the Peak District National Park where hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs) will run together between multiple destinations and attractions.

  1. Toyota will provide the buses.
  2. Air Products is providing hydrogen.
  3. The services appear to be centred on Chesterfield station.

It looks like one of the objectives is to test the two types of buses against the terrain.

I can see hydrogen-powered buses being used extensively in tourist areas all over the world.

  1. Looking behind the article this appears to be part of a longer association between Toyota, Portugal’s Caetano bus manufacturer and Air Liquide that started out in 2018 as part of project to promote EV vehicles throughout Europe, of which the Hydrogen Fuel Cell is just part of the solution.
Over the last two years Toyota have had this particular vehicle on loan to Abellio in London, Stagecoach in the Scottish Highlands and Stagecoach Teeside.
In Europe Caetano have seen sales of pilot vehicles.
It will be interesting how long this project lasts.,comfort%2C%20safety%20and%20easy%20use.
