Heston Blumenthal Does Kettles

I needed to buy a new kettle, as my previous one had developed a non-opening lid. I eventually bought this one that had been branded by Heston Blumenthal.

Heston Blumenthal Does Kettles

I doubt he designed it, but it suits my purposes, as I have a low spout on my cold water tap, which means that this petite kettle is ideal for my atrociously designed kitchen.

It’s also lighter than my previous one.  The only problem is that it could be a bit small, for some purposes like making pasta, where I tend to boil a large kettle of water rather than boil it in the saucepan.

  1. For her birthday we bought my mother a type of kettle called a “water heater” – you fill it up to the top, then when you want to make a cup of tea or coffee, you place a cup under the spout and press the button on the top and after about 15 seconds it dispenses boiling water into the cup. It only heats the water you need for each cup, and the lady who comes in first thing each day leaves it full. It has lots of different cup sizes, we set it for her to the size of the cup she uses. It is great, she couldn’t (be bothered??) with a normal kettle and used to ring people to come round and make her a cup of tea – she is not remotely independent minded! but the water heater is great, and will probably replace my own kettle with one at some stage.

  2. I saw them a couple of years ago, then when I realised the havoc my mother was causing over cups of tea decided it would be an idea birthday gift. If she can use one confidently then they must be very straightforward.
