Exclusive Footie Shocker
The title of this post, is the same as that at the top of the front page of today’s Sun.
It is not about the latest Premier League star being found in bed with a bevy of young beautiful ladies or losing his money in casinos, but this.
Kante Pays More Tax Than Amazon & Starbucks
As ever The Sun has got straight to the point.
The BBC shows the front page with this comment.
The Sun leads with a story on Chelsea FC footballer N’Golo Kante, who it says has signed a million pound deal which will see him pay more tax than Amazon and Starbucks combined. The 27-year-old chose not to use a scheme to be paid via offshore firms, meaning he will pay £6.7m in tax.
Luckily, I have no need to use companies like Amazon, Facebook and Starbucks.
I hate to be sceptical, but the player is French, and presumably wants to pay [lower] taxes in the UK than in France. The French also have a wealth tax.
Just because his base salary is paid through PAYE (it’s the law for footballers and HMRC are strict on this one) doesn’t mean any other revenue can’t accrue to offshore companies etc.
You will have noticed how UK players often seem to go an play a season or two in the US or China at the end of their playing career, ever wondered why?
Similarly when Beckham played for PSG he took no salary and commuted on Eurostar. France has a wealth tax.
PS expect the Premiership to move offshore for over half the year if Corbyn and McDonkey get in…

Because I wanted to get the details on the story and photograph the front page, I actually bought the Sun this morning. It appears he paid well upwards of six million in tax.

As yo Corbyn and McDonkey will all the high-earning luvvies and media personalities change their voting intentions, when they see their tax bills?
