Braving The London Underground

I took these pictures today, in a short Underground trip between Angel and Kings Cross St. Pancras tube stations.

It’s not very busy! Is it?

  • There was no-one else in the tunnel as I walked between the escalators at Angel station.
  • There was only two other people in my carriage on the train.
  • There were few people in the tunnels at Kings Cross.

Isuspect that I travelled during lunchtime helped.

  1. If trains could run automatically there would be no need for service cuts and none of those stories of overcrowding.

    • Given the age and depth of London tube I doubt if many people would be happy stranded on a driverless train 30m/100 ft beneath London !

Driverless systems in other cities tend to be modern, shallow and not very long .

      • Seoul has deep level driverless trains which are quite long.

  2. I’ve used both these stations for most of my life and remembering when Angel had an island platform with trains going in opposite directions with platform reached via a staircase which lead from lifts with in entrance on City Road and exit in side street . Also had a very long spiral staircase
